Manual Photography Refresher

Class Description:
Is it time for a refresher? Are you looking for more clarity on how to be a manual photographer and digging deeper into your creative self? This hands-on workshop is intended to build on the skills you learned in Exploring Manual Photography.

The following topics to be discussed:

  • Reviewing Aperture, ISO and Shutter speed
  • Developing your process for approaching Aperture, ISO and Shutter speed
  • Understanding when to push these settings to their limitations
  • Communicating your vision with manual photography and visual design

We will be venturing outside for part of the class to capture the beauty of the Comox Valley (rain or shine) and this may involve a short drive within Courtenay.

Who is this class for:
Adults only please. This is a level 2 workshop for those that have completed the level 1 Exploring Manual Photography workshop or having taken a workshop with Karen McKinnon recently (within 2 years).

You must be comfortable with changing manual settings in your camera. If you are unsure of your skill level, please contact us.

What to bring:

  • Camera that can shoot in manual mode
  • Clean SD card for your camera
  • Clothing suitable for our west coast weather including an umbrella if rain is expected
  • Optional – Up to three printed photographs that you are unhappy how they turned out
  • Optional – A tripod will GREATLY enrich your experience and are recommended, however they are not required
