Drawing – Lupine Pups

Description:
Over the period of four weeks, students will develop and apply an understanding of the fundamental elements of drawing. Students learn how to apply these elements to their own drawing subjects, while maintaining a sketchbook of their own body of work and practice.

Week One – Line, Texture and Mark Making
During the first week we will explore line and texture. This will be an exploration of different drawing materials and styles of mark making, as well as how to use line to create texture.

Week Two – Shape and Form
We will be learning about shape and form and how these elements of drawing can help us sharpen our observation skills and simplify complex subjects such as facial features.

Week Three – Value and Shading
This week we will be learning about value, contrast and how to add depth, shading and weight to our drawings.
The younger pups will work primarily on their value scale and learning control of their material.
The older pups will focus on adding weight, and understanding light source and how this applies to shadow.

Week Four – Space and Perspective
The younger pups will focus on simple one and two point perspective as well as overlapping shapes, background, foreground and middle ground.
The older pups will focus on perspective as it relates to portraits and angles of the face.
