Drawing En Plein Air

Class Description:
Join Tracy as she takes you to different locations around the city of Courtenay such as the boat docks, Courtenay Museum, Simms Park, or side streets and alleys to practise sketching outdoors.

The focus will change each week as you practise your skills using perspective, creating texture, sighting, and utilizing value.  At the end of each session we will spend a short time sharing the observations we make.

You will need to be dressed for the weather and prepared to walk around the town.

We will meet each week in front of the Comox Valley Art Gallery. This class is a little different from our regular classes as you will need to bring your own supplies. A sturdy sketchbook, pencil and eraser is all you need. It’s up to you if you would like to bring other drawing materials such as charcoal or conté.

“I loved my drawing classes with Tracy. She is always supportive and gentle with suggestions. I am absolutely amazed at how much knowledge I have gained and how my drawings have progressed. The space is perfect and the cookies are always delicious!” — Sheila Lynn Nugent-Smith
