Local Cityscapes in Watercolour with Clive Powsey

Class Description:
This watercolour workshop will take us out onto the streets of Courtenay early in the morning when lighting is most dramatic. We will make small monochromatic thumbnails which capture the lighting that naturally changes over the course of a day. We will then continue with a larger watercolour painting that provides more detail, but retains the earlier dramatic lighting. We will look at the relationship between colours in light and shade, and also how we can purposely lose detail and soften edges in shadow areas to create a convincing sense of light and shade.

Dates:
Jun 9
Saturday 9:00am – 1:00pm

What is included:
All artist quality supplies are included, but you might want to consider bringing your own personal set of watercolours, pallet and brushes (completely optional).

Who is this class for:
Designed for intermediate painters, students should have some basic watercolour experience or have taken our Introductory Watercolour workshop. Drawing experience is always helpful, but not mandatory.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Nothing else is required.
