Acrylic Painting 2 – Portraits – IN STUDIO

Class Description:

This class will be devoted towards painting portraits in acrylics. The first three classes will be devoted towards building the skills necessary for painting this subject. These will include proportion, value, underpainting, glazes, and of course mixing the myriad colours used to portray skin. The final two classes will be devoted towards working on a more in depth portrait on canvas.

Students will be asked to paint from subjects of their choosing. On the first day of class students are asked to bring an 8”x10” (approx.) portrait image to work from that focusses on the face. Please bring two copies of this image, one in black-and-white and one in full colour. Scott will also have a couple of samples if students are unable to get the images in time.

This class builds off of the skills covered in the Acrylic Level 2 classes with Jess and adds more room for including your own interests and personal artistic pursuits.  If you’ve taken a couple of Jess’s level 2 classes, you’ll be perfectly suited to expand your painting skills in this class with Scott! (Even if you haven’t taken a class with Jess, but have a bit of experience OR have taken the Very Beginner workshop, you will be perfectly suited to this exploration of Portraits!)

Please note this class is limited to 6 students so you will get plenty of individualized instruction and attention. All supplies are included, too!

Covid protocols:

• Students (and instructors) will be required to wear a mask at all times during the class.
• Please use hand sanitizer or wash hands with soap and water upon entry to studio
• Instructor will go over tool safety and protocols during the first class

Who this class is for:
Level 2
Focus: Skill Development
Adults only please. This Level 2 class is designed for those who have been introduced to the medium and tools and seeking continued learning and practicing. Skill development will be the focus. These classes are ideal to be taken repeatedly for continued practice.
If you have never painted before, please take the Very Beginner Workshop prior to this class to learn the basic skills of acrylic painting.

What to bring:
We have some aprons, but wear clothes that can withstand the elements (i.e. glue, paint, etc.) of a fun, creative art studio. Please bring your own face mask. Nothing else is required.
